The Applicant Pool:
Eager, knowledgeable, experienced
Each year, hundreds of Hawaii's students travel to the top colleges
and universities on the mainland. Also, many of Hawaii's talended
workers leave the islands to pursue jobs on the mainland.
Many of these students and former residents want to return to
Hawaii. However, due to the lack of contact with Hawaii's employers,
many of them are discouraged from seriously pursuing a career
in Hawaii.
These students and former residents represent some of the best
and brightest of Hawaii's high school graduates and employees.
In addition to their familiarity with Hawaii, they following advantages
are present:
- They are eager to return to Hawaii. They don't have to be
convinced of the advantages of living in Hawaii.
- They are used to the life style and understand the culture
of Hawaii. they are not just in search of a "Hawaiian adventure."
They are returning to stay close to family and friends.
- They have family and friends in Hawaii. They are less likely to leave your position because of a lack of a social support system in Hawaii.
- Their mainland college and work life has given them a broader
experience than they would have received if they remained in
Hawaii. They have an understanding and balance of "island life" as well as a "mainland experience".
