Kama`aina Careers was founded in 1998, Jon Sakurai-Horita, Founder and President, grew up in Hilo and graduated from Hilo High School. He has over 20 years of experience assisting employers with their employment needs. He directed the Career Centers at Santa Clara University and the University of San Francisco and has contracted with a number of organizations on the mainland.

The main objectives of Kama`aina Careers are to:

• Assist Hawaii's companies in hiring Hawaii students from mainland colleges and universities and former residents of Hawaii.
  
  
• Assist students and former residents working on the mainland to return to Hawaii to fulfill their career objectives after academic training on the mainland.
